We had a nice workshop today and lots of drawing with the burning pens as well as finishing off the last panel for the standing boxes. Thank you to all of our committed workshop participants!
All of the containers have been planted! The planters have a variety of veggies and even some flowers. To name a few: radishes, strawberries, bush beans, acorn squash, carrots, zucchini and more! I crunched a radish today and it was juicy and delicious! The kids are super excited about seeing where food comes from and nurturing its growth! We are having our Garden Grand Opening celebration on Wednesday, May 30 from 10:00-11:30am. We hope you can come!
The kids enrolled in our licensed Out-Of-School care program also got involved in the process of embellishing the planter box panels. the younger ones used the salt-dough method, while the others used the wood burning tool. Here are a few works in progress.
The Garden Grand Opening was a success with over 60 people coming through to enjoy the festivities! We offered: 1- Garden harvesting and salad tasting 2- Herbal, Strawberry and Cucumber water infusions 3- Artisan cookies in the shape of vegetables 4- Ask An Expert – Fresh Roots 5- Large garden games 6- Woodburing demonstration 7- Musical entertainment by Poncho & Sal Many thanks to the board members and staff who helped on the day: Mich, Karen & Gurdial; Caroline, Kitty and Amanda.
