Planter Box Filling

Good news: we received a soil donation from the City of Vancouver's Social Policy Department.
Bad news: it was delivered far from our site!

With shovels, wheel barrows and muscle, we managed to fill a few over the course of Sunday morning.

Veggies are coming up!

All of the containers have been planted! The planters have a variety of veggies and even some flowers. To name a few: radishes, strawberries, bush beans, acorn squash, carrots, zucchini and more! I crunched a radish today and it was juicy and delicious! The kids are super excited about seeing where food comes from and nurturing its growth! We are having our Garden Grand Opening celebration on Wednesday, May 30 from 10:00-11:30am. We hope you can come!

Our First Wood Burning Workshop

A small but brave group of us met for the first workshop. Working with the tool is tricky at first. Some of us muscle it through the wood, others go with the flow of the wood grain. Some even use the wood's knots for inspiration, such as the little critter.
